Home > Poems > Lao Tse, On the Nature of the Way > If your bravery shows itself as daring |
|
|
if your bravery shows itself as daring you'll die |
if your bravery shows itself in not daring you'll survive |
two braveries: one dangerous, one a blessing |
|
| heaven hates what it hates |
who can say why? |
even the wise find this puzzling |
||
| the way of heaven overcomes without trying to-- |
responding without speech, persuading without a command, |
acting on plans while seeming inattentive |
||
| gigantic is the net of the stars |
the mesh seems too thin |
yet nothing slips through |
